Description
This hike begins with a ride on the modern Sunnegga train, that winds its way up the mountain, through a tunnel to the sunny plateau of the Sunnegga. Who can help looking across to the majestic Matterhorn? The hike starts out in the direction of Findeln. Just above this hamlet, the trail forks downwards to Fluealp. In Tällinen, at the foot of the Findel Glacier the trail leads to the Grünsee (green lake). At the directional sign Ze Seewjinen take the right fork to Zermatt. Then it is all downhill, on a rather steep trail, to Findelbach and then to Zermatt.
Starting point: Mountain station Sunnegga.
Destination: Center of Zermatt.
Take the cable-car from Zermatt to Sunnegga.
Walking time: 3 h
Season: July through October
Altitude difference/Condition: 160 m ascent and 800 m descent / intermediate to difficult
