Description
Here in the mountains they say that the devil roams free on the glacier plateau of Les Diablerets. This is because on stormy days the devils slip out of their holes and throw stones at the forty metre high rock tower, which for the most part they miss. No wonder that the people on Alp Derborence, 1500 metres below, are so scared of landslides.
Here there are however also enchanting walks through the eternal snow, romantic dog sled tours and for an adrenaline rush the world's highest toboggan run.
Meanwhile, experienced hikers cross the firn snow plateau and follow the scenic trail marked as a mountain route to Cabane Prarochet, where wonderful cakes are served. Then onwards to the source of the River Saane and over the pass (passing the Sanetsch dam) to the works cable railway that goes back to Gsteig.
Leave enough time for a detour to Auberge Sanetsch and you'll be rewarded at Luyet with a glass of Valais wine from their own vineyards!
