At the Ellhorn between Balzers and Sargans John Harlin gets into his canoe and drifts along the Rhine towards Lake Constance. The first border he comes to is that of Liechtenstein, past the capital and seat of the Principality, before reaching the Austrian border again at Sennwald/Ruggell. At Diepoldsau the border follows an old branch of the river Rhine, now a nature reserve. And at St. Margrethen the border branches off to the left, again following the "old Rhine". Rheineck is the staging point.
