If bad weather concert will take place in Victoria Hall. With numerous recordings to their name and a career spanning seventeen years, the Cuarteto Casals navigates the history of the string quartet with ease, moving from Viennese classics to 20th century composers and always creating their unique sound. The programme they are offering for Musiques en été will demonstrate this through a classical masterpiece, Mozart's famous Dissonance quartet, a romantic example in Brahms' beautiful first quartet and, to end the evening, Ligeti's string quartet n°1, Métamorphoses nocturnes.
