Docking Station

The contemporary art scene evinces a keen awareness of its own precursors and pioneers. Artists are increasingly interested in art and cultural history, identifying certain traditions that they are building on and explicitly referencing genres and stylistic periods of the past. This is the focus of the exhibition Docking Station, a project initiated in conjunction with Nationale Suisse. Twelve artists, Marc Bauer, Bianca Brunner, Philippe Decrauzat, Klodin Erb, San Keller, Petra Köhle / Nicolas Vermot Petit-Outhenin, Zilla Leutenegger, Michael Meier & Christoph Franz, Giacomo Santiago Rogado and Francisco Sierra, have been invited to work with the collections of the Aargauer Kunsthaus and Nationale Suisse, respectively. In works conceived especially for the exhibition they respond to selected works, thereby casting them in a new light.
