Lauterbrunnen with its most famous landmark, the impressive Staubbach Falls, is the gateway to one of the most spectacular valleys in Switzerland. A total of 72 waterfalls gush down into the Lauterbrunnen valley from the vertical cliff faces, some of which are several hundred metres high.
At the head of the Lauterbrunnen Valley, take the UNESCO Trail past impressive waterfalls and enjoy the isolation - nature still has all the space in the world up here.
With a height of nearly 300 meters, Staubbach Falls is the second highest waterfall in Switzerland. In the summer warm winds swirl the waters around, so that the Falls spray in all directions. These droplets of water spray gave the brook and the waterfall its name.
