The 3rd stage of the East-West Tour begins in Gstaad and leads across the Col du Pillon to Les Diablerets, which is located at 1200 meters, between Lake Geneva and Gstaad. The rock face of the mountain range, which surrounds the small village in the Ormont Valley, was considered a dangerous and cursed place where devils struck terror into people’s hearts. The name of the town Les Diablerets is derived from the French word for devil, le diable.
The Eastern Switzerland Tour starts in Kreuzlingen, at the western end of Lake Constance. It skirts the lake up to St. Margrethen and then travels upwards to Heiden, Trogen and over the Ruppen Pass to Altstätten. On the Ruppen a restaurant beckons to tarry awhile and enjoy a repast.
The South-North Tour starts in Mendriso and takes bikers in two day-stages to Basel. The first stage takes you from Mendriso via Lugano and Bellinzona to the Gotthard, and via the Furka, Grimsel and Susten passes to Altdorf.
