A natural spectacle in a class of their own are the 600m long Engstligen waterfalls. Under preservation since 1948, these are the second longest falls in Switzerland.
The first tower, constructed on the Bachtel in 1873, was made of wood. It was destroyed by a storm in 1890. The new Bachtel Tower was built in 1986. It is 60 meters high and has an observation platform at 30 meters. On the observation platform of the Bachtel Tower an “Alps Pointing Device” was installed that shows the names and drawings of the mountains visible from the Bachtel.

Three unusual trains take visitors to the Emossen Reservoir Lake. Even getting to Emossen by taking the train from Martigny towards Chamonix, traveling through the almost impassable ravine, is an adventure.
