Brienzer Rothorn

Mountains – The three and four thousand metre peaks cluster round the Brienzer Rothorn. Early risers may be rewarded by seeing the sunrise between the mountains. There is a cable-car from Sörenberg and, from Brienz, the only scheduled steam-powered rack railway service in Switzerland. Various different opportunities for walking, with varying degrees of difficulty, or you can go right over to the Brünig Pass, 4.5 hrs.

Schilthorn – 007 James Bond

Mountains – The aluminum-covered revolving restaurant "Piz Gloria" on the Schilthorn was used in the filming of a few key scenes in the James Bond movie "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". There is a permanent exhibition that reminds one of this fact.

"Piz Gloria" is the name of the scenic film mountain at 1300m above the traffic-free Mürren resort. And the scenery and panoramic views in front of the main alpine ridge are pretty impressive too.

Mountains – The Hotel Rothorn Kulm (2266 m.a.s.l.) high above Lake Brienz offers a wonderful view, pleasant rooms, delicious food, and getting there is a quite an extraordinary experience.

Getting to the Hotel Rothorn Kulm (2266 m.a.s.l.) is quite an experience. No prosaic getting there by car or even by aerial cable-car but by steam-driven rack-and-pinion train. The ride there can even be made more romantic by getting to Brienz by a paddle-steamer from Interlaken plying Lake Brienz and Lake Thun.
