We board the "Siesta", a semi-catamaran in Solothurn, Switzerland's most beautiful Baroque-style city. On the picturesque cruise to Biel one passes the unique Stork Colony at Altreu, the charming country town of Büren and the Jura mountains. (Cruises mid-May to mi-October).

"Of all the places I know, this is the dearest and most interesting to me", declared Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, when he travelled through the Ursern valley three times in 1779. The Ursern valley (canton Uri) at the foot of the Gotthard Pass is one of the most impressive upland valleys in Switzerland. Andermatt (1440 m), the largest of the three villages in the valley, is at the crossroads of the mountain passes from north to south and from east to west.
