Shingle Roofs

Fine wooden shingles called “tavillons”, arranged in typical patterns, cover the rooftops of Taveyanne. While the tradition has become a rarity, you increasingly see buildings decorated with them in the Fribourg and Vaud Alps – but rarely in such concentration as in this little hamlet above Gryon.

Cooky and Snowli Snow Garden

Thanks to the two Children’s Snowlands established by the Ski School Villars (one in the village and one on the pistes), children above age 3 can learn skiing.

The Lac des Chavonnes is situated amidst beautiful woodland above Villars in the Vaud Alps. It’s just a 30-minute walk from Bretaye station (mountain railway from Bex). Meals and refreshments available at the lakeside restaurant.
