On stony paths through the land of the cheese barons – the hike from La Videmanette with its panoramic views high above Rougemont down to Château d'Œx runs along the border of La Pierreuse Nature Reserve. It is worth making a detour to the alp of the same name before visiting the hot air balloon exhibition in Château d'Œx and admiring the museum's collection of silhouette cuttings, or scissor cuttings.

Following the Doubs: The Swiss Water Trail

France to one side and Switzerland to the other, with a river running through the middle: The Doubs. Its long, ruggedly picturesque valley is virtually uninhabited and being a nature reserve it is even more of a paradise for fishermen and hikers. The riverside path between Soubey and St. Ursanne opens up a truly original part of Switzerland. Through almost untouched riverscape, it runs past fish taverns and swimming areas.

15 kilometres of meditative hiking pleasure and one of Switzerland's most beautiful "water trails" run between Soubey and St-Ursanne.
