Laténium - Archaeological Museum

This museum, with archaeology park, displays 50,000 years of pre-history and history, laid out in innovative ways. The discovery park (free entry): the newly designed river banks extend over 30,000 m2.

More than a hundred archaeological sites hidden underground or at the bottom of lakes have been brought to light in the last few years and these have provided us with more historical information about topics from Neanderthal man to the Middle Ages.

Rochers de Naye

The prominent rocks of Rochers-de-Naye above Montreux constitute one of the most beautiful vantage points in the region. At 2,045 meters above sea level the view sweeps across Lake Geneva and the surrounding Alps. Or into the burrows of marmots.

It takes the panorama carriages on the cog railway about an hour to complete the interesting route via Glion to the Dent de Jaman and round the mountain to the summit. Towering 1,650m above the town, these rocks (“les rochers”) are as much a part of Montreux as the Chillon Castle, the flower promenade and the jazz festival.
