Lausanne boasts the world’s smallest automatic Metro. The new 6-kilometer line connects the pier of Ouchy via the Lausanne Train Station and the Old Town with the Croisette district. Approximately one half of the route is underground.

The railway line through to Croisettes beneath the Lausanne station presents the world’s greatest subway drop – an amazing 336-meter altitude difference, with maximum 12% gradient.

The Kronberg (1663m) is the family mountain in Appenzellerland, offering many attractions both in the summer and the winter. The valley station of the aerial cableway is next to the Jakobsbad Train Station, high up in the Gonton valley.

As conglomerate rock in the forming of the Alps, Kronenberg precedes the Alpstein. A cable car takes you from the Jakobsbad station to the vantage point with mountain guesthouse.

Mont Salève – Geneva and Mont Blanc

A rewarding excursion destination is Mont Salève, which is situated in neighbouring France.

Geneva’s home mountain lies around 900 meters above the Jet d'Eau, on French terrain, yet at the heart of Geneva. And the mountain has been connected to mountain rail since over 120 years.

Madrisa – adventure for children

The Madrisa Train operators call the mountain station “Entrance to the Alpine Park Landscape”. And they are quite justified in doing so, for there are innumerable natural and cultural phenomena in a tiny space at the border between Graubünden and Vorarlberg.

Dwarfs, alpine ghosts and root characters are key figures on the Klosters family mountain. Gondola-style rail runs from the village to the forest border of the Saas Alp.
