Laurenzenvorstadt

The Laurenzenvorstadt, a broad boulevard, is the only element of Daniel Osterrieth’s "Plan d'agrandissement de la Commune d'Aarau" (Aarau Municipality Expansion Plan) to have been realised. At nearly 20 metres wide, it was intended to be a showpiece of a street. Its generous, spacious houses on the northern side provide information about what Osterrieth’s urban expansion could have looked like after the period of the Helvetic Republic.
