At 1679 meters Mont Tendre is the highest peak in the Swiss Jura and offers the finest 360 degree panoramic vista. The Mont Tendre Trail takes 5 hours from Col du Mollendruz, ascending 500 metres to Mont Tendre and leading gently back down to Col du Marchairuz.
The network of trails around Zermatt runs rather high into the mountains. Yet they are all quickly conquered - cable cars carry hikers up to an altitude of 3000 metres in the blink of an eye. Or to Blauherd, where one of the most beautiful tours of the region starts at an altitude of 2500 metres.
