One of the best ways to enjoy the breathtaking glacial landscape of central Switzerland is on board a steam train crossing the Furka pass from Realp to Gletsch. The Furka mountain railway is run by volunteers, among them retired chemist Yoshaki Watanabe, who came all the way from Japan to join the workforce for six weeks as a tour guide.
