Moorlands come into existence at locations that are constantly moist, or during the summer months.

In the Canton of Graubünden, flat moors cover about 3,000 hectares of land. And in these flat moorlands around 10% of Graubünden's flora and fauna can be found. Therefore, these must be protected to the largest extent possible.
