The use of hydroelectric power in the Grimsel and Susten area commenced in 1925 with the founding of the Kraftwerke Oberhasli AG (Oberhasli AG power plants). In several stages, an impressive facility came into being that comprises eight dams and nine power plants, generating electricity for 1.2 million people.
6km hiking trail from Postbus Stop of Savièse,Prafirmin Torrent-Neuf to the Gorge (Pub at Ste-Marguerite and Brac at the end of the reopened trail). Four suspending bridges of nearly 100m each.
Toules Dam lies in the community of Bourg-St-Pierre in Val d’Entremont and is fed mainly by the river Dranse d’Entremont.
