The family-friendly hostel on the shores of Zurich’s lake is just a few minutes away from the station on foot. Housed in a historic building dating back as far as 1841, the edifice was transformed into a modern hostel around 20 years ago. The hostel comprises 27 rooms with 2 to 4 beds, seminar infrastructure, cosy garden restaurant beneath chestnut trees in summer and children’s playground in an extensive park area. The hostel building is wheelchair accessible.

The newly renovated and extended youth hostel, designed by the architects Buchner & Bründler, is a pearl on any list of youth hostels. Features include 234 beds in rooms for two to six people, reception room, lounge and dining area, meeting room, kiosk, Internet corner, free WIFI and inclusive breakfast buffet. A tasteful mix between tradition and modern, with central position in the St. Alban area. Every guest receives a Mobility-Ticket entitling them to free use of Basel’s public transport.
