Mountain lakes in the Binn valley

There are about a dozen lakes in this natural park. One of the most beautiful, and easily accessible, is the Halsesee, set amid moorland of national importance. The Schaplersee is in the middle of lush alpine meadows. Up at 2400 metres is the Geisspfadsee, a series of glacial lakes in a bleak scree landscape. Or you can visit the Grengjer See, the jewel of them all on a terrace in the Saflisch valley.

Romantic little Gantrisch lake

Little mountain lake at 1578 m. Until just a few years ago, the Gantrischseeli was almost entirely silted up, but now thanks to some very committed volunteers it is once again a rewarding place to come to for a short mountain walk. Start from the Untere Gantrischhütte at 1510 m. The path takes you past cows and goats into the nature conservation area around the lake. Don't forget your binoculars for spying out chamois!
