Freddie Mercury

Freddie Mercury and his group Queen came first to Montreux to register their first album « Jazz » and to buy the record studio “Mountain Studio”. The singer of Queen fell in love with this region and he bought an apartment in Montreux, where he passed the last years of his life. At his honour, a statue has been built at the lake side in Montreux.

Freddie Mercury, the singer of the rock band Queen, settled in Montreux where the group had bought Mountain Recording Studio and where he learnt to appreciate the peace and quiet. He recorded his last album, Queen - "Made in Heaven" at the Montreux studio.

Au Bon Vin

The Au Bon Vin restaurant in the heart of the Lavaux has many Vaud specialities on its menu: cheese rarebit, "metzgete", cabbage sausage... probably one of the last restaurants which slaughters its own meat (own sausage production and smokehouse).
