In less than two hours the hiker moves between two worlds that are geographically close, but historically and culturally completely different.
The Binn Valley is Switzerland's treasure chest, where most mountain crystals are found. The area therefore attracts guests from everywhere in the world eager to hunt glittering crystals. Mt Eggerhorn is the best vantage point in the area. From here, see the Bernese Alps, the Goms Valley and even the Aletsch glacier.
The hike from Murtèl to Pontresina crossing the Fuorcla Surlej is a classic in the Upper Engadine. The mountain panorama is simply breathtaking: in the beginning of the hike it is the glaciers of the Bernina Range that catch one's eye, then it is the icy pyramid Piz Roseg. Further down in the Roseg Valley one may well chance upon wild animals that still roam here.
