488 kilometres, 32 stages, 1 adventure: this long-distance hike culminates in four scenic stages passing through glades of ferns and forests of birch, by pretty lakes and over panoramic peaks.
The Jakobsweg leads from Wattenwil in the Gürbetal valley through the rural landscape of the Schwarzenburgerland up to Schwarzenburg. There are fantastic views of the Stockhorn mountain range all along the way, whilst on the other side you can see over towards western Switzerland. You walk through small villages with picture-postcard churches. In Rüeggisberg there are some impressive ruins of a former monastery.
The mountain tour starts in Sumvitg and follows the left flank of the valley up to Brigels. High above the valley basin of the Surselva, the Senda Sursilvana meanders alongside the mountain flanks. En route we come across steep mountain streams that later flow into the Vorderrhein. The hiking tour leads through picturesque villages in Graubünden.
The strong fragrance of mimosas, well-tended Palm Gardens and simply unsurpassable views of the deep-blue Lago (Lake) Maggiore - these are the distinguishing attributes of this hike. The tour is a typical spring hike. The temperatures are not yet too high, but the natural progressionof spring has already reached the stage where conditions are ideal for a wonderful day inSwitzerland's sunshine capital. And while comfortably sipping a cappuccino at the Piazza of Ascona, you can let the day go by in a delightfully leisurely fashion.
