Shepherds' festival at the Gemmi

On the last Sunday in July, the usually quiet place of Daubensee comes to life, with no less than 1,000 sheep flocking around the lake.

The shepards' festival is a friendship meeting for shepards and farmers. And for all spectators it is fun to watch the unique spectacle of the wooly mass of sheep rolling down from the steep cliffs to the lake, to devour their meal - a mixture of bran and salt.
