Schacher Seppli Adventure Trail in Giswil

In 2007, the song “Der Schacher Seppli“ was the number one hit on Swiss Television. Ruedi Rymann had newly interpreted the song, for which he had already received the Golden Record in 1982. The Schacher Seppli Adventure Trail in Giswil reminds us of the famous, meanwhile deceased yodeller from Obwaldnerland.

Making cheese in a panoramic location

The Fluonalp is one of the loveliest of the Giswil Alps and the cows that graze here enjoy not only magnificent views, but a copious supply of the most delicious herbs. No wonder the cheese made from their milk is so remarkable. Nor is the recipe a secret. Anyone who wants to can visit the dairy and make their own cheese. What’s more, they can pick it up again a year later (the cheeses weigh between 11 and 13 kg), by which time it will have matured to perfection.

Hammetschwand lift and Felsenweg path

It created an absolute sensation when the hotel and railroad pioneer Franz-Josef Bucher-Durrer built the Hammetschwand lift at the Bürgenberg in 1905.

The 152.8 meter-high lift to the Bürgenstock looks like a heaven-bound rocket.
