This walk starts in the heart of Geneva, passing through a particularly charming corner of the city on its way to the Rhone and out into the countryside. For long stretches it follows the river bank, which is home to over seventy animal species and is one of the best protected areas in Switzerland.
The Salève, Geneva’s 1,380 metre high iconic mountain, is located in neighbouring France. Close to the city, the Salève offers delightful walks for hikers and affords breathtaking landscapes, including views of Mont Blanc.
From 17 July to 10 August 2014, the Fêtes de Genève turn the lakeshores into a concert stage, annual market, outdoor playground and event venue rolled into one.
