«Papiers découpés. Scherenschnitte. Silhouette. Paper cuts»

Following on from the highly successful exhibition Papercutting – from Tradition to Modernity at Château de Prangins in 2006, the Swiss National Museum is once again organising a presentation in conjunction with the Swiss Association of Silhouette Enthusiasts. This time, the Association invited paper cutters to engage in a dialogue with works from history. The exhibition juxtaposes some ten historical paper cuts, including a devotional miniature, a love letter, a scene depicting an Alpine cattle drive and various silhouettes, with around a hundred contemporary creations. Also featured are paper cuts made by children from the Pestalozzianum Foundation in Zurich, and films by the celebrated director and pioneer of silhouette animation Lotte Reiniger (1899-1981).The exhibition was created by the Forum of Swiss History, Schwyz.
