In the Canton of Graubünden, flat moors cover about 3,000 hectares of land. And in these flat moorlands around 10% of Graubünden's flora and fauna can be found. Therefore, these must be protected to the largest extent possible.
The 10-km-long walk from Sonvilier to the Hôtel Chasseral leads past the castle ruins of the former Erguël castle, along Jura moors and the upper part of the "Combe Grède".
The Center Champ-Pittet, which is affiliated with the environmental protection organization Pro Natura, lies in Switzerland's largest lakeshore wetlands, Grande Cariçaie on Lake Neuenburg. Champ-Pittet is a hub for hikes on nature trails and for observing animals in the nature reserve.
