The combination of intensively used meadows, upland and lowland moors provides the habitat for vast numbers of species of plants and animals.
The houses of this mountain village are sprinkled across a large, sunny plateau above Visp, an ancient cultural landscape defined by open aqueducts and an extraordinary wealth of Alpine plants that have become rare elsewhere. This is Zeneggen in the Augstbord region.
The waterfall at Jaun held a mystery for many years. Nobody knew where the copious amounts of water came from. Up to 6,000 liters per second gush out of the rock in June – an extraordinary natural spectacle.
