Zemez is situated in the upper part of the Lower Engadine. It is the starting point of many hiking tours leading to the National Park. But even the tours on flat terrain along the Inn River are very scenic.
Starting from the spa resort of Scuol, the route leads past the mighty Tarasp Castle up to picturesque Ardez. An imposing tower watches over the idyllic village. Meadows speckled with colourful flowers alternate with shady pine forests in the valley cut by the river Inn. Vistas of the magnificent Lower Engadine mountainscape come repeatedly into view along the way.
The Valais is wine country - and in Visperterminen the art of wine-growing reaches a new record. For this is where Europe's highest vineyards lie, at an elevation of 1100 meters above sea level.
High above Zmutt Valley the hiking trail slopes gently upwards, ascending through Swiss stone pine forests and across Alpine pastures to the hamlet of Zmutt.
