Herb walks with a local herbalist

Every Wednesday during the summer you can learn about unique alpine flora from the herbalist and homeopath Astrid Thurner. About 120 alpine plants can be spotted along the way. Duration: 3 hours.

Butterbur, common spotted-orchid, wild thyme – medicinal herbs and plants flourish on the lush meadows of the Val d’Err.

Tell frescoes

The "Tell House" was built in 1576 by the dairy farmer Hans Folcken as a home, inn and warehouse. The main façade is resplendent with the probably oldest dated William Tell frescoes. The farmer had them painted in 1578 in honour of the delegates from Central Switzerland who stayed with him on their way back from the renewal of the federation with the people of the Valais. They show the shooting of the apple, the swearing of the Rütli oath and the fall of Gessler.

Hotel De Ville
