Haute Route Graubünden – a classic ski tour

Travel through the most beautiful landscapes in Graubünden on touring skis this winter along the High Route. Between Julier and Flüela Pass some of the most beautiful ski tours of the Alps can be undertaken via a single continuous route that connects four SAC mountain huts.

Chamanna digl Kesch SAC

The hut was built in 1893 and during the first few decades of its existence had so many visitors that its capacity had to be increased, first from 26 to 40 and then to 90 bunks. Today this expansion is no longer sufficient.

The building's modern infrastructure is a technical masterpiece of its time. Located at 2,625 meters at the foot of the Kesch Mountain, it offers accommodation for 92 persons, spread over 5-bed to 12-bed rooms.

Albula Railway Adventure Trail

With 39 tunnels, 55 bridges and a difference of 1123 metres in altitude, the Albula Line of the Rhaetian Railway between Thusis and St. Moritz is a masterpiece of railway engineering. It was opened in 1903 after having been under construction for 5 years. The section between Preda and Bergün is one of the most spectacular stretches. The Historic Railway Trail follows this stretch.

39 tunnels, 55 bridges, a 1123-meter height difference: the Albula section of the Rhaetian Railway is a superb example of how railways have opened up access to the Alpine countryside. On the Preda to Bergün section, there is an adventure trail: a 2.5-hour hike with information about the world's most spectacular railway line.
