The 18th-century Holy Ghost Church stands on the site occupied by its predecessor, which was commonly called the "Spitalkirche," or Hospital Church. Constructed in the 13thcentury, the former church was operated by a monastery which also cared for Bern's poor and sick in a nearby infirmary and pauper's home.
Exhibits ranging from Swiss prehistory to regional costumes and art fill the halls of the Swiss National Museum.
