Every year in June or July, the monastery courtyard with its magnificent baroque cathedral in the St.Gallen Abbey District is transformed into an opera setting. And this is where the St.Gallen Festival takes place.
Every summer since 2003, the Lake Thun Festival has presented international musicals and in-house productions.
The tradition of the William Tell Open-Air Theatre in Interlaken began in 1912. Since then, Friedrich Schiller's play "William Tell" has been performed from 1912 to 1914, from 1931 to 1939 and every year since 1947, in the Rugen woods in Matten. Performances were only interrupted during the two world wars.
In August of 2003, Mozart’s opera “The Abduction from the Seraglio” was performed in Hallwyl Castle as one of Canton Aargau’s ten cantonal jubilee projects.
