Seit dem Sommer 2006 erleben die St.Galler Festspiele eine erfolgreiche Saison nach der anderen. Die einmalige Verbindung von Tanz, herrlichem barockem Raum der Kathedrale und sakraler Musik lassen das Theater zu einem unverzichtbaren Bestandteil der etablierten Festspielagenda werden.

Every year in June or July, the monastery courtyard with its magnificent baroque cathedral in the St.Gallen Abbey District is transformed into an opera setting. And this is where the St.Gallen Festival takes place.

Lake Thun Festival

Thun’s lake stage has been in existence since 2003. Already with its first five productions, "Evita", "Anatevka" (“Fiddler on the Roof”), "Miss Saigon", "Elisabeth" and "Les Misérables", the Lake Thun Festival has established itself in Switzerland and in the neighboring countries.

Every summer since 2003, the Lake Thun Festival has presented international musicals and in-house productions.

William Tell Open-Air Theatre

There has probably never been a theatre in Switzerland that has enjoyed such success, summer after summer, with the same play for so many years. The fascinatingly realistic backdrop and action-packed scenes really raise the hairs on the back of your neck.

The tradition of the William Tell Open-Air Theatre in Interlaken began in 1912. Since then, Friedrich Schiller's play "William Tell" has been performed from 1912 to 1914, from 1931 to 1939 and every year since 1947, in the Rugen woods in Matten. Performances were only interrupted during the two world wars.

Opera at Hallwyl Castle

Im August 2003 wurde im Schloss Hallwyl erstmals ein Theater unter freiem Himmel aufgeführt. Aus einem Jubiläumsprojekt wurde dank des guten Echos, alle 3 Jahre ein Publikumsmagnet.

In August of 2003, Mozart’s opera “The Abduction from the Seraglio” was performed in Hallwyl Castle as one of Canton Aargau’s ten cantonal jubilee projects.
