Walking through the unspoilt Binn Valley is a joy not only for geologists but also for novices and aficionados of minerals. Quite apart from the untouched nature, attentive hikers will find a wide array of colorful stones and glittering quartz crystals. The Binn Valley is one of the world's ten largest mineral deposits.

Visitors can explore a rich geological diversity in the Binntal valley thanks to its exceptionally varied flora. The treasure of this valley is concealed within the mountain – nature has made the Binntal valley one of the regions of the Alps which is richest in mineral deposits.

Regional museum in Binn

The exhibition is devoted to the thing that has made this valley famous far beyond Switzerland: minerals. Part of this extensive collection belongs to the local community itself, since it is legally entitled to a share of the yield from the Lengenbach mine. Geological maps, a model of the mine (which cannot be visited) and photographs of the activities of the "Strahler" (crystal miners) complete the exhibition.

Mittlebärg Hut

The hut, at the rear of the Binn Valley, , in the midst of the future Nature Park, is reached in three hours from the bus stop "Im Fäld" (Binn). In summer one can reach it faster by Bus alpin. From your vantage point at 2,393 meters you will have a magnificent view over the rear of the Binn Valley. Ascend the 3235-meter Ofenhorn, Hohsandhorn, Turbhorn, Rappenhorn, or the Albrun Pass leading to the Devero Valley in Italy. The hut has room for 20 guests. It is catered in the summer and offers daily freshly baked cake.
