Hinterrugg - the highest of the seven Churfirsten peaks

This enjoyable ascent starts from Alp Sellamatt and continues via Zinggen - Hinterlücheren - Gluristal - Hinterrugg to Chäserrugg. Descend with the aerial cableway and cable railway to Unterwasser.

Those who want to go even higher will continue along the trail to the summit of Hinterrugg. On the way, you pass an unspoilt valley, strewn with rare flowers - the Gluristal - and climb up to the highest point at 2306 m above sea level. There you are rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view from the highest of the Churfirsten peaks.

In the Speer-Churfirsten-Alvier region, hikers can enjoy mountain scenery of unforgettable beauty. Rare flora, remains of Roman buildings and the idyllic town of Werdenberg are also among the unique attractions of this region.

Wildmannlisloch Trail: Alt St.Johann Strichboden – Alp Sellamatt

It starts off with the most adventurous part – the ride on the Holzkistenbahn cable car from Starkenbach to Strichboden. From here, this simple route with its gentle undulations continues for two hours on the Toggenburg alpine path to Alp Sellamatt all the while keeping below the zigzagging Churfirsten peaks and passing the mysterious Wildenmannlisloch, where small cave lovers will find something to interest them.
