“Hands on” are called for at the Suonen and Sudelpark in Unterbäch. And at the heart of the village, the tradition and techniques of “watering” in the Valais are exhibited on a compact 1,500 square meter area.
This is where, in 1957, Swiss women first had the vote - against the wishes of the Swiss Federal Government. Its central location in Upper Valais makes it the ideal spot for setting out on excursions throughout the region. Opposite Unterbäch, on the other side of the valley and framed by a unique mountain panorama, the imposing Bietschhorn mountain, a UNESCO world natural heritage site since 1999, watches over the village.
