Rhine

Rivers –

With a length of 375 kilometers, the Rhine is the longest river in Switzerland. Although the Rhine flows far to the east of the country, thanks to mighty tributaries it drains 80 per cent of Switzerland’s surface. Now it’s time to leave the water for a short while, because at Neuhausen the mightily grown river plunges at the Rhine Falls into the depth. In the summer about 700 cubic meters of water gush downwards per second, the record quantity, however, is twice as high. The fearless climb under the Rhine Falls into one of the boats that travel very close to the roaring waters.

Talalpsee

Mountain lakes – The Talsee, which lies at an altitude of 1100m, is a haven of tranquillity amidst a wildly romantic mountain landscape. The small mountain restaurant, the Talalp, is situated directly at the lakeside. Accessible by chairlift from Filzbach to the mountain station of Habergschwänd and then a 30-minute walk.

Lake Lucerne

Big Lakes – Encircled by popular excursion mountains, Lake Lucerne is the lake with the greatest scenic variety in the country. It is somewhat reminiscent of a fjord landscape, yet remains characterised by a mild lake climate. Boat cruises on board five historic paddlewheel steamers and 15 elegant salon motor vessels count among the highlights of this region.
