Have you ever stopped to think that right above Locarno there is a panoramic viewpoint that's very easy to reach, which offers spectacular sights from the lowest point above sea level in Switzerland, the river Maggia's delta in Ascona, right up to the summit of Monte Rosa, the highest in the whole country?

The deepest and highest points in Switzerland at a glance – in the south the Lago Maggiore, and to the west the Valais high Alps with Dufourspitze. All this at just a few minutes away from the lively town of Locarno.

Rochers-de-Naye – high above the lake

The prominent rocks of Rochers-de-Naye above Montreux constitute one of the most beautiful vantage points in the region. At 2,045 meters above sea level the view sweeps across Lake Geneva and the surrounding Alps. Or into the burrows of marmots.

The rocks (les rochers) – towering 2042 meters above the town, are as much a part of Montreux as the Chillon Castle. Already back in 1892 the first small steam train made its way up to Rochers de Naye from Glion.

Lavaux Vineyard Terraces: The Swiss Wine Route

A three hour hike on the Vineyard Trail from St. Saphorin to Lutry is filled with temptations. Terrace after terrace offers fabulous views over Lake Geneva. While local delicacies beckon from the pubs, the winegrowers keep their cellar doors wide open for you to get a taste of the landscape. The Lavaux wine region is so spectacular that it has been a Unesco World Heritage Site since 2007.

From St. Saphorin in a diverse route going uphill and downhill through the vines to Lutry. Indeed, it is on the Lavaux Vineyard Terraces where bon vivants get into top gear.
