The Binn Valley is Switzerland's treasure chest, where most mountain crystals are found. The area therefore attracts guests from everywhere in the world eager to hunt glittering crystals. Mt Eggerhorn is the best vantage point in the area. From here, see the Bernese Alps, the Goms Valley and even the Aletsch glacier.
Where the vast Obergoms region turns into a narrow gorge leading to the Untergoms, the Binn Valley opens up. It is popular with amateur geologists. It's not only the nearly intact Walser villages with their dark wooden houses, but also the spectacular backdrops between Grengiols and Fäld, as well as the rich vegetation and the natural mineral deposits (one of Europe's largest finds of this kind), that make this hike a superb experience of nature.
A huge, carved squirrel welcomes children at the entrance to the magical forest. The picture book «Brüna» tells the story of the squirrel that experiences all manner of exciting adventures in the forest and encounters strange apparitions. Gnarled spruce trees and moss-covered stone blocks are ideal for an adventure playground. A fir-cone lift, tree swing, suspended bridge, gorge trails and a barbecue area are provided for use by families with children.
