Military-historical trail 14/18

The Piz Umbrail assumed an important role during the 1914-18 border occupation. Over summer and winter, Swiss solders stationed in this extreme high mountain region observed the happenings along the Austrian-Italian front. A 30-km-long trail with information panels and a guidebook explain positions and events on and next to the front. The accompanying museum stands in Sta. Maria.
