Between the dreamy village of Sonogno in the furthest corner of the Valle Verzasca and the inpenetrable Valle Redorta you will find the idyllic Grotto Efra in the shadow of old sycamore trees.
This grotto is run by the three Balemi sisters with a great deal of love and devotion. Their guests are treated to regional delicacies such as polenta cooked over an open fire, rabbit and pot roast. The seasonal specialities are particularly recommended.
This alpine settlement that has been partly re-inhabited is situated at 1240 m on the slopes of the Piz Vogorno, between the village of Vogorno (Val Verzasca, 500 m) and the Alp Bardughè (1600 m). You can get to Alp Odro on a steep but well marked path.
Matasci Vini, i.e. Matasci Wines, is a family-run business. Since 1921 it has been located in Tenero, a small town tucked away at the foot of the hills embracing the right bank of the River Ticino, overlooking Lake Maggiore.
