This easy, three-hour hike that connects French and German-speaking Switzerland begins in Schwarzsee. From here ascend to the Euschels Pass and continue to Jaun, the only Swiss-German village in the French-speaking Gruyères region. Indeed, the Euschels Pass itself is very close to the language barrier.
There can barely be any other canton boundary that is so clearly hewn into the landscape as the Sense Gorge. In summer, the gravel banks of the area where the Schwarzwasser flows into the Sense are popular with swimmers and picnickers, and you may also see some canoeists. Swim in the "Glunggen", sunbathe, collect pretty stones – the Schwarzwasser is a great place for both enjoying nature and recharging your batteries.
