This is a short but interesting hike full of local legends that date back to medieval times. The legend has it that runners from the two villages Altdorf and Glarus met up at the stone marker to determine who should own a certain part of the area. The hike connects the Klausen Pass to the Uri Plain. The impressive Toedi Range and Mt. Clariden are the focal points at most times.
High up on the sun terrace, the summer and winter sports venue of Braunwald sits enthroned over the valley of Glarus, surrounded by a fantastic panorama of mountains, with the peak of Tödi a real eyecatcher. Its unique top is a glacier that draws and enchants the eyes. Bikers find everything they need in Braunwald: Comfortable shelters, tricky tails, tough uphills and technical downhills. The half day tour on the top of Ortstockhaus rewards you with an objective impression of the character offered by this area.
The holiday resort of Braunwald is situated high above the Linth valley, surrounded by the mighty Glarner Alps. Because it faces south, Braunwald is wonderfully sunny even in the winter months.
Lean back and enjoy - a carriage ride with a view of the imposing mountain landscape gives you the impression of being on vacation and makes you feel a bit like royalty.
