It was fun driving from Paris to Zurich, we did it on 28th December 2011, started early morning from Paris and reached Zurich around 12.30 (6 and half hours). We had a quick break of getting gasoline and coffee in between. Road is good, GPS found us 100Km shorter route which did not reduced the time but gave us much beautiful drive than highway, and u can drive over 100km on that route too. U can see Alps 30 min before entering Swiss boarders from the distance and when we crossed Swiss boarder every thing change u can see hills both side of the road very close and u cross 3 tunnels long ones and we saw light snow on the distant hills and heavy snow on distant, my 9 years son Chanakya shouted see lot of snow. (Coming from Costa Rica, so bit crazy about snow) and in less than 30 min we were in Zurich.
Be careful in France u normally drive around 140Km but as u get in swiss boarder ur limit is 100km.

Hello you can buy the Vignette for 40 swiss francs at the border station when you enter Switzerland, it is valid for 1 year. Ensure you do buy one as when you leave Switzerland you may be stopped and have to pay the original fee plus a fine for not having the Vignette.
