From May 18 to September 19, 2009, three hundred plants will flourish and grow in an area stretching from the city center to the airport. More than 30 different plant species such as Oleander bushes, palm trees from the Ticino area, fig trees and Japanese arrow bamboo will be planted in 5.2 foot tall pots. Informative plaques on the pots designed by Switzerland’s and Europe’s leading street artists educate about the various plants.
The summer project highlights subjects such as art and design, botany and nature, city and environment and aims to further strengthen Zürich’s image as an attractive city that is in touch with nature. Discover Zürich this summer on the guided Gartencity Stroll or take a walk through the seasonal art exhibition individually.
