High above Zmutt Valley the hiking trail slopes gently upwards, ascending through Swiss stone pine forests and across Alpine pastures to the hamlet of Zmutt.
This trail was once a frequently used, busy route to Sion. The chapel in Zmutt bears witness to that era. In Zmutt the inn "Jaegerstube" invites you to take a midday break, and on the way back along the right-side valley flank, restaurant "Zum See" beckons in the hamlet bearing the same name. The descent to Zermatt helps you to digest - the visual as well as the culinary pleasures of this tour.
Other attraction: Hamlets of Zmutt and Zum See, view of the Matterhorn
Various: For the return trip: perhaps from the hamlet of «Zum See», ascent in 20 minutes to the cableway station "Furi".
