Take the cable-car that departs from the train station in Lugano-Paradiso to the top of Monte San Salvatore. The intrepid may prefer to take a steep trail that leads to the same spot in about 2 hours. Once at the top, a trail winds through chestnut groves in the direction of Carona. From picturesque Carona continue towards Morcote. Soon the trail hits the church dedicated to Madonna d'Ongero, while deep in the valley Lake Lugano sparkles from afar. Here, there is a junction: one way leads to Torello, the other to Morcote. Nearing Morcote, the hike leads through a pleasant forest as it winds down to the well-known resort right on the shores of the lake.
Starting point: Mountain station Monte San Salvatore.
Destination: Boat landing Morcote.
Ascend to San Salvatore from Lugano-Paradiso by cable-car, return by boat from Morcote to Lugano.
