A high point in the history of mountain railways - after 16 years of
construction, the Jungfrau Railway was inaugurated on Swiss National
Day in 1912 and at 3,454m, remains Europe's highest railway station to
this day. A trip up into this fascinating glacier world is one of the
highlights of travelling in Switzerland.
Glacier tour
This guided 2-day trek starts at the Jungfraujoch pass and includes a breathtaking crossing of the Aletsch glacier, Europe's longest glacier, taking you down into Canton Valais.
Get married on high
As of summer 2005, happy couples can now get married on either the Jungfrau Railway's nostalgic train, up on the Schilthorn or on the romantic Harder Kulm.
