The journey begins in Chur, continues along the Albula route into the Engadine and keeps on going - without cogwheels - over the Bernina Pass down to southerly Valposchiavo, over the spiralling viaduct at Brusio and on to Tirano. Cross the Alps from North to South (or vice versa) enjoying breath-taking vistas from the 1st and 2nd class panorama cars. Ride over graceful via-ducts, through switch-back tunnels, along rushing mountain streams, glaciers and even an alpine garden. Hear the narration all through the trip. The journey can also be extended to Lugano by bus in summertime. The train journey is for approximately 4hrs and the bus 3hrs.

Wagons - The wagons are the most modern, and air conditioned panoramic coaches. The only glass between you and the landscape is in your sunglasses. In the open-view coaches you can feel the sun and wind up close, hear the rushing of mountain streams and breathe fresh mountain air. Thanks to large windows extending to the top of the train, travelers are able to enjoy excellent panoramic views. Air-conditioning provides for comfortable, draft-free trips. Oh! What a feeling! It offers first and second class service as well as panoramic coaches. The various and interesting coach options are the Stiva Retica , Alpine Classic Pullman Express, The Starck Coach, Gourmino Dining Cars, Panorama Coaches, Historical Coaches and Wedding journeys.

There is a Minibar service available onboard the trains and on partial routes. The passengers may also purchase snacks and beverages on board.

• Reservations for trains and buses are compulsory and are at a surcharge
• Free «Bernina Express Certificate» for passengers available on request at Rhaetian Railway stations
• Rates include value added tax and exclude seat reservations, and are subject to change.
• A ½ price ticket allows you to travel for half price.
• The junior ticket allows children under 16 to travel free when accompanied by at least one parent.
• Railpass (GA) and day tickets are valid.
• Passport or identity card required to cross border into Tirano (Italy) for Indian passport holders. Valid travel documents are mandatory.
